Extending a Large-Scale Model to Better Represent Water Resources without Increasing the Model’s Complexity

چکیده

The increasing impact of anthropogenic interference on river basins has facilitated the development representation human influences in large-scale models. groundwater and large reservoirs have realised significant developments recently. Groundwater reservoir Global Water Availability Assessment (GWAVA) model been improved, critically, with a minimal increase complexity data input requirements, keeping model’s applicability to regions low-data availability. increased functionality was assessed two highly anthropogenically influenced basins. A revised routine incorporated into GWAVA, which is fundamentally driven by three parameters, improved simulation streamflow baseflow headwater catchments such that low-flow skill 33–67% Cauvery 66–100% Narmada. existing extended downstream major reservoirs, using calibratable parameters. performance between 15% 30% 7–30% Narmada, daily releases improving significantly 26% 164%. improvement routines GWAVA proved successful performance, inclusions allowed for traceability simulated water balance components. This study illustrates human–water interactions models possible, without excessively requirements.

Extending Generative Models of Large Scale Networks

Since the launch of Facebook in 2004 and Twitter in 2006, the amount of publicly available social network data has grown in both scale and complexity. This growth presents significant challenges to conventional network analysis methods that rely primarily on structure. In this paper, we describe a generative model that extends structure-based connection preference methods to include preferences...

Fostering collaboration to better manage water resources

Good water management is literally vital for the arid and semi-arid regions of the planet. Yet good water management requires multidisciplinary expertise, since one must consider climatic, hydrological, economical and social aspects to make balanced decisions on water usage. We here present SegHidro, a grid portal designed to foster scientific, technical and operational collaboration, as to imp...

A Stochastic Model for Water Resources Management

Irrigation water management is crucial for agricultural production and livelihood security in many regions and countries throughout the world. Over the past decades, controversial and conflictladen water-allocation issues among competing municipal, industrial and agricultural interests have raised increasing concerns. Particularly, growing population, varying natural conditions and shrinking wa...

A Practical Desalinization Model for Large Scale Application

Salinity of soil and water is the most important agricultural hazard in arid and semi-aridregions. In saline soils, yield production directly influences by soluble salts in the root zone aswell as by shallow water table depth. The first step for reclamation of such soils is reducingsalinity to optimum level by leaching. The objective of this study was to develop a practicalmodel to estimate wat...
